Frequently Asked

What is counseling like?

So is counseling like having coffee or a beer with a friend and talking about life? Or more like going to a doctor who listens to symptoms and gives a diagnosis?

Well, sort of both.

I will give you all the wisdom my education, training, and experience can offer to help you make sense of your struggles. But insight and understanding can only get you so far. That’s why I will also care for you and support you through the toughest stuff of your life. Its been said, we are wounded in relationships and we must heal in relationships. I want to be one of those healing relationships for you. I want to care about you, not just diagnose you.

And though we can’t sit in Starbucks, bring your coffee. I’ll certainly have mine.

Do you counsel women?

Yes, absolutely. It seems true for many women that the struggles of relationships and life leave them with a profound and deep heartache. Most women seem to carry this heartache with great shame. “I am too much… I want too much… I am crazy.” I want to help women fight abuses of power, oppression, and shame and recover a sense of dignity, empowerment, and self worth. And I know sometimes engaging a male therapist can be a part of the healing process. This is a calling I feel so honored to carry.

What is your rate?

$160 per individual or couples session (50-60 minutes)

Payment can be made with cash, check, or credit card. I do also accept FSA or HSA cards directly. Most clients put a credit card on file with me for automatic payment. I take payment directly in my office after each session.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take any insurance directly. All of my clients pay me out of pocket. But I will gladly provide you with medical receipts for your sessions to help assist you in getting reimbursement if you can.

Counseling with me may be covered under your insurance plan if you have coverage for Mental Health Services. To determine this, you must contact your insurance company directly. Ask them if they cover an out-of-network counselor who is Masters level trained (MA) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Colorado.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flex Spending Accounts (FSA) can also be used to cover counseling services.

Do you offer financial aid?

In order to offset some of the cost of counseling for those with genuine financial need, a limited amount of scholarship money may be available. This acts very similar to a sliding scale and can help reduce your per session rate. A scholarship application can be obtained by talking with me directly.
